[News] SATREPS: Selection of Proposals for Feasibility Studies and Public Events

Selection of “Young Research Team Feasibility Studies Proposals”
On October 28, ten teams of young researchers from Asia were selected by JST to conduct preliminary feasibility studies on their joint research themes emerged through discussion at the Friends of SATREPS (FoS) online community. This novel approach to develop joint research proposals is conducted under the Special Project Formation Investigation FY2011 for Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS).

Announcement of Selected Proposals for Young Research Team Feasibility Studies (JST press release)
FoS Offline Meeting
Some 100 members of FoS met at JST Tokyo Headquarters on September 30, 2011 to spend their Friday evening at an offline meeting. The networking event was held to commemorate the number of FoS members reaching the one thousand mark and to give members a chance to meet face to face in addition to communicating online. The meeting proved to be successful in producing encounters that led to ideas for new research.

SATREPS Photo Exhibition
JST also collaborated with the World Bank Public Information Center (PIC) to organize a SATREPS Photo Exhibition from October 3rd to 14th at PIC Tokyo. The exhibition was entitled "For the Earth, For the Next Generation―Facing up to change in the sky, sea, and land in Tuvalu, South Africa, and Bhutan." The event attracted more than 250 visitors including participants of interesting talk sessions with researchers of each projects.
