[Event Report] Report on Japan-New Zealand (MoRST) Collaborative Workshop on“Functional Food” held at JST Ueno Office, from October 11th to 12th, 2010

Total of 17 people from Japan and New Zealand took part in the workshop as presenters (8 from Japan and the rest from New Zealand), and gave various presentations including lifestyle diseases originated from dietary life, processing technology such as food emulsion technology and sensing mechanism of taste.
Those presenters gave a report on this workshop at the first Japan-New Zealand Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology, held in Tokyo on October 13th. They also participated in a reception in commemoration of Mr. Mapp, Minister for Research, Science and Technology of New Zealand who visited Japan on the occasion of the Joint Committee Meeting. These events accommodated discussions between New Zealanders and their Japanese counterparts on possible future collaborative activities.
After the workshop, the New Zealand delegation visited the National Food Research Institute (NFRI), the University of Tokyo, the Kewpie Research Institute and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and lively exchanged views and opinions with the Japanese researchers at each site.
It is highly anticipated that research exchange will be more and more active in the future between the both sides of researchers.
